The hills are alive with the sound of hammers. St. Moritz, for decades the happy skiing grounds of everyone from the Rothschilds to Claudia Schiffer, has a new look this season--just in time for the 30th anniversary bash of the legendary Dracula Club. Badrutt's Palace, the resort's de rigueur hotel, has just finished a renovation under its new owners, the Rosewood Group--leaving longtime guests to fret over the fate of their beloved inn as they return this month.
("The chic people go in February," says one German aristo. "The other ones go at New Year's.") Meanwhile, RolfSachs--the crown prince of the town--and his wife, Maryam, have found themselves the most unusual lodgings on the mountain. They're converting the 1928 Bauhaus Olympic skating rink into a private house.
