The Wrong idea. (Eye).

W, February, 2003

Tucked between a scuffed basement door and another made of glass, the Wrong Gallery is the smallest art gallery in Chelsea, and perhaps the world. It's 40 inches wide, 12 inches deep and 93 inches high. But the concept that curators Maurizio Cattelan, Massimiliano Gioni and Ali Subotinick have worked up is big enough to attract artists like Martin Creed and Paul McCarthy.

"There is no buying, no selling, no space," says Gioni, although plenty of passing pedestrians tug at the outer door hoping to get in. "We call it the back door to Contemporary Art."
