"I have too many houses, and they're all stuffed," says Karl Lagerfeld, one of France's greatest shoppers, who is cleaning house yet again. This time it's Biarritz and Monaco that will get a spring airing, when some 200 pieces of French furniture and objets will be offered at Sotheby's Paris on May 15.

All the stars of the Twenties and Thirties are represented-Jean-Michel Frank, Pierre Legrain, Eileen Gray and Jean-Jacques Ruhlman--in a collection Lagerfeld says shows the "roots of Modernism."
