Topic: RSS FeedThe lowdown: flat and fabulous, these boots are made for walking.(Accessories Flash)(Brief Article)
W, September, 2005 by Iredale, Jessica
The vertigo-inducing boots of seasons past are making room for the user-friendly boot du jour--tall, flat and decidedly Sixties. Edie Sedgwick, the queen of Andy Warhol's superstars, incarnated her era's first rule of proportion: the shorter the skirt, the flatter the heel. Designers have worked that shape in interesting textures and colors, and the result is a range of reinvented vintage looks, from equestrian to rood. Sergio Rossi channels a canter through the English countryside with his traditional, over-the-knee beauties, while Jimmy Choo's sleek, lime-green suede boots take a cue from Andre Courreges. Sedgwick's uptown emulators, meanwhile, can pay homage in Calvin Klein's streamlined black alligator boots.
