They're a fickle bunch, the perennially fit. One year it's got Bikram yoga. The next year, everyone's training with kettlebells. Or doing aikido, or cardio-boxing. And there's no place like Los Angeles, still the workout capital of the world, for witnessing the ever changing humor and interests of the gym crowd. Angelenos have recently turned to "fusion" or "hybrid" classes, which combine the most appealing and effective elements of disparate exercise philosophies. The unique results (Bikram-boxing boot camp, anyone?) give local trainers and fitness studios new ways to provide an exercise fix while avoiding that same-old boredom.
YAS, a yoga-and-Spinning studio on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, was founded almost six years ago on this very fusion principle....
