Safety agency issues pipe recall. (Consumer Product Safety Commission; high-temperature plastic vent pipes)

Gray or black plastic vent pipes are subject to a recall. Other plastic vent pipes, such as white PVC or CPVC, are not affected. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of high-temperature plastic vent pipes (HTPV). Tom Kinney of the NAHB Research Center, Upper Marlboro, Md., calls the announcement a landmark action.
He reports vent pipes subject to this recall program can be identified as follows: they are plastic, colored gray or black, and have the names "Plexvent," "Plexvent II" or "Ultravent" stamped on the vent pipe or on stickers on vent pipe connectors.
