A robust early-1995 has given way to a slightly mellower year-end market for power transmission (PT) products. Though the past year has been one of steep demand due to strong economic growth, suppliers expect only moderate gains in 1996. "Driven primarily by automotive, pulp and paper, and the steel industries, PT manufacturers saw double-digit increases in sales," says Richard Bermann, vice president, Kaman Industrial Technologies, a Bloomfield, Conn.-based power transmission products distributor.
