As the largest off-shore supplier of printing paper to the U.S., the Madden Corp. is familiar with the old adage: Time is money.

In 1992, the company, which provides the glossy paper for the advertising circulars of such retail giants as Kmart, Sears & Roebuck Co., and J.C. Penney, was missing deadlines, delivering damaged goods, and paying for it.
