Forecasters are decidedly upbeat on '96. (1996 Economic Outlook from Cahners Economics Div.)

"Cahners Economics sees yet another year of solid growth for the U.S. economy during 1996," begins the 1996 Economic Outlook report from in-house forecasters at Cahners Economics (CE). "Although the road ahead isn't clear of obstacles, we believe that major economic imbalances can be avoided."
CE notes that "There were plenty of cross-currents to wade through in the economic indicators released by government and private data mills in the final months of 1995. Although the trend in some indicators continued to disappoint, on balance the data pointed to improved growth prospects for the economy following 1995's subpar expansion." CE says macro growth forecasts for 1996 will run below levels recorded in 1995, but many economic fundamentals will actually improve....
