Ford Motor Co. is without the services of Norm Ehlers, who retired January I following a 33-year career in which he worked his way up the corporate purchasing ladder to serve as vice president of purchasing and supply from 1992-1994.
Ehlers, who was vice president of facilities and non-production purchasing when he retired, began his career with Ford in 1962 following his graduation from the University of Illinois where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in economics. He was recruited by a number of companies in other industries, but decided on Ford. "I was interviewed by companies in steel and soap industries, but the auto industry was appealing," he says.
