Faster Pentium II introduced.

Purchasing, November, 1998

Intel has introduced a faster version of its Pentium II computer processor for laptop computers. The 300-MHz chip succeeds the 266-MHz Pentium II for mobile computers that was introduced a few months ago. The new processor uses just 1.6 volts of power, the lowest voltage mobile processor Intel has ever developed.

The chip also has new technology called Quick Start, which drips the processor power to just 0.4 watts when the computer is inactive. Intel says the new microprocessor will sell for between $637 and $715, depending on features.
