Fairchild Semiconductor has completed its $450-million purchase of Samsung Electronic's Power Device Division which makes a variety of semiconductors for such uses as televisions, fluorescent lights, and power car seats. Based in South Portland, Maine, Fairchild makes low- voltage semiconductors used in personal computers, industrial equipment, telecommunication equipment, consumer goods, and automobiles.
