Intel has slashed prices on Pentium III 450- and 500-MHz chips, and has begun selling a new 550-MHz version. The company has cut the selling price of its 450-MHz model from $411 to $268, a drop of 35%. It cut the price on its 500-MHz model from $637 to $482, a drop of 24%. The new chip is priced at $744. All prices are for 1,000 lot quantities.
