Rockwell slashes costs by standardizing on PCs.(Enters agreement with Hewlett-Packard.)(Statistical Data Included)

As part of a new strategic sourcing initiative, Rockwell has entered into an agreement with a personal-computer supplier that promises to help lower its total costs of acquisition. The global agreement with Hewlett-Packard is expected to provide Rockwell's four businesses with $100 million in personal computers (desktops and notebooks), workstations, and servers over a three-year period, says Jim Hart, vice president, strategic sourcing & chief procurement officer.
Based in Costa Mesa, Calif., the electronic controls and communications company is made up of four businesses: Rockwell Automation, Rockwell Collins, Rockwell Electronic Commerce, and Rockwell Science Center. Rockwell employs 40,000 people at 450 locations serving customers in 80 countries. ...
