Micron Tech sees an imminent uptick in memory chip prices. Kipp Bedard, VP/corporate affairs at the biggest U.S. memory chip maker, expects late-summer or early-autumn prices for 64-megabit semiconductors to rise from $4.50 in recent weeks to $5.25 apiece (1,000-lot orders). Buyers, however, note that memory chips have been selling at a discount of at least $1/each from announced prices.
