Salomon Smith Barney has raised its full-year benchmark Brent crude oil estimate to $18.50 from $17.75/barrel. Reason: Analysts at the investment banking firm now expect oil prices to average $22 a barrel through the end of the year. For 2000, Salomon Smith Barney sees oil averaging $19/bbl, up from a previous estimate of $18/bbl.
