Atmel says the flash memory market is strong enough to support a price of $28.80 for its new 64 megabit (Mb) DataFlash memory chip. "High-density flash data storage is a healthy and robust market," says director of marketing Richard De Caro, "being driven by such applications as MP3 players, digital cameras, 'smart' cellular phones with Internet access and PDAs."
