Intel has begun shipping its Pentium 4 microprocessor. The chip operates at speeds of 1.5 and 1.4 gigahertz and has a 400-MHz bus compared to Pentium Ill's 133-MHz bus. The chip is targeted at Internet technologies and is designed to improve audio multimedia applications. Price: $819 for the 1.5-GHz version and $644 for the 1.4-GHz device.
