* There seems to be no stopping consolidation in electronics distribution. Avnet's planned acquisition of Kent Electronics is the latest example of merger mania in distribution. Avnet plans to close on its deal to buy out Kent in June. Avnet will acquire Kent in a stock-for-stock merger transaction valued at $550 million.
Avnet is a broad-line distributor while Kent specializes in connectors, passives and electromechanical devices. In addition, Kent has a data communications division.
