You might expect a high-tech company to be picky when it comes to purchasing desktop PCs, printers, laptops and other computer-related office equipment. Brad Whitehair, manager of NCR's client asset management team in Dayton, Ohio, would probably prefer the term "thorough." The mission of Whitehair's team is to qualify the company's office equipment suppliers and their products and to develop short lists of options for NCR's employees.
That is done partly with a view to negotiating low prices, but just as important it is done to simplify the purchasing process and to make sure the products work smoothly with each other and with NCR's internal systems.
