In a surprise announcement, the Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group has been granted conditional amnesty from prosecution and fines for violation of U.S. and European Commission antitrust laws in exchange for its cooperation with authorities investigating the price-fixing ring. The chemicals ocean shipping company is under investigation for possible pricing collusion with other ocean shipping firms, including Norwegian competitor Odfjell.

Stolt said in a statement that during an internal investigation, "the company became aware of possible collusive behavior and notified the appropriate authorities" which likely helped it gain amnesty in the case.
