AMD, Fujitsu unite in flash. (Memory ICS).(FASL, LLC)(Brief Article)

AMD and Fujitsu Limited will form a new flash memory company in the U. S. The company will be called FASL, LLC and will be based in Sunnyvale, Calif., and Tokyo.
Under a memory of understanding agreement, AMD will own 60% of the company and will begin operations in the third quarter of the year.
"Customers are looking for a strong, collaborative partner in the flash memory category," says Hector Ruiz, AMD president and chief executive officer. "AMD and Fujitsu have a long history of cooperation. Our joint manufacturing venture, which commenced in 1993, has been a model of success for U.S.-Japanese joint ventures. We are taking that relationship to the next level.
