Expect Congress to back construction.(of a natural gas pipeline from Alaska )(Brief Article)
Purchasing, September, 2003
* Expect Congress to back construction of a natural gas pipeline from Alaska as part of a comprehensive new energy bill. Natural gas prices will remain high, but at least supplies will become slightly more secure. The real issue in the bill will be how Congress deals with proposals for a national energy grid in the wake of the crippling late-summer blackout in the energy-short Midwest and Northeast.
The South and the Northwest oppose any grid that would take away control of their own supplies.
