* Personal computer maker Dell and partners EMC and Cisco Systems are chasing a chunk of the mid-range storage market. Dell plans to offer a Network Attached Storage (NAS) gateway that lets customers connect both to other NAS storage systems and to dedicated networks known as Storage Area Networks (SANs).

The chief competition will come from market leader Network Appliances and its own partners, which include IBM.
