DuPont, Alcoa collaborate on composite.(aluminum composite siding material)(Brief article)

Staff Chemicals giant DuPont and world aluminum leader Alcoa have developed a new construction material designed to shield building facades from damage caused by hurricane-level wind-borne debris. By introducing a thin layer of fabric made from Kevlar fiber between the Reynobond aluminum skins and polyethylene core, Alcoa and DuPont have created a light, flexible aluminum composite material.
The architectural panel system is a fiber designed to withstand wind-borne debris in hurricanes. The fiber acts as a safety net by helping to protect the facades of buildings from hurricane-propelled debris, frequently the main cause of hurricane damage.
