Dow leverages vendor-managed inventory for office supplies.

And when it comes to buying office supplies at Dow Chemical, supplier-managed inventory has been working well. Dow has leveraged the strategy in one form or another for the indirect buy since the mid-1990s.

"When you look at buying of office products, you want to make it easy, fast and cost-effective, and that's what we think we have with this process," Schumacher says.
