Several of the U.S. Dept. of Energy's (DOE) top national labs may see a changing of the guard as the agency formally announced a competitive bid process for their management and operations (MO) contracts. The labs in question include: Ames National Laboratory (expiring Dec. 2004), Argonne National Laboratory (Sept. 2004), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (Jan. 2005), Los Alamos National Laboratory (Sept. 2005), and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, whose contract expired this past January.
