MIT forges TParty initiative.(R&D[TM] ASIA)(Massachusetts Institute of Technology)(Brief Article)

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, and Quanta Computer Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of laptop PCs, Taipei, Taiwan, have announced a five-year, $20 million research collaboration aimed at developing the next generation of platforms for computing and communication beyond personal computers.

Dubbed TParty, the research collaboration will create new systems for the development and seamless delivery of information services. These "smart" portable devices are expected to eliminate the need for users to manage information transfers, security systems, software upgrades, and backups.
