ThermoML improves data.(R&D INFORMATICS)

A new Web-based system that speeds researcher access to a large body of new scientific data has improved access to data as well as the quality of the data itself.

ThermoML, a Web-enabled thermodynamics global data exchange, catches and corrects data errors in roughly 10% of journal articles entered into the system. This platform was developed by a partnership of scientists from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Boulder, Colo., five major scientific journals, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), Research Triangle Park, N.C.
