AOL Latin America began as a joint venture of America Online, Inc. (now a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL Time Warner] and the Cisneros Group of Companies in December 1998. Today, Banco Itau, Brazil's second largest private bank, is also a minority stockholder of AOL Latin America.
