WSJ getting facelift.("Gray" Lady No More)(Brief Article)

CHALK IT UP to a depressed ad market or simply shifting demographics, but Wall Street's paper of record is changing layout and focus. When the financial community picks up The Wall Street Journal on April 9, they'll find that the Gray Lady has gone color, with an all-new cover layout ? the first since World War II.

The new format will continue a $225 million revamp that previously saw the 112-year-old paper thicken to 96 pages from 80 pages with the new year.

While these cosmetic changes may be jarring, Journal staffers hope readers will approve of the "cleaner and clearer design that will include increased aids to navigation, more color and fewer typefaces."
