In search of mobile search revenue.(SHORT MESSAGE: Around the wireless industry)

Mobile versions of search engines like Google, Yahoo! and MSN are proving to be nowhere near as popular as their online counterparts, according to JupiterResearch. The fact that users have to pay to search is evidently a factor.

Although 81% of online users use search engines, few mobile users do. Just 20% of consumers are willing to pay for directory enquiries information and only 7% are willing to pay for local search on their cellphone, JupiterResearch says, suggesting that local information providers will need to look to advertisers to monetize their local search offerings.
