Dissing WiMAX.(UNWIRED)

If you're thin-skinned and in the WiMAX business, it hasn't been a good month. Vendors have emerged from various points to diss the much-heralded wireless broadband technology.
Nokia's WiMAX point-man Marku Hollstrom complained to silicon.com that WiMAX was a good technology, "but not like it has been hyped."
Well, you might think, Nokia has had an on-off relationship with WiMAX anyway.
Then Ericsson CTO Hakan Eriksson, in conversation with Unwired, says that the WiMAX world has given up on standardizing the upper layers in order to save time (see interview p.26). We all know what happens when you have gaps in your standards.
