European 3G users embrace multimedia.(METRICS: Inside the wireless data numbers)

While 3G users still account for a small percentage of Europe's total cellphone-toting population, they are as much as five times more likely to use the multimedia capabilities of their handsets, including messaging, gaming, watching videos and downloading content. According to M:Metrics' first European Benchmark Surveys, 7.7% of UK mobile phone users subscribe to 3G services, topping Germany with 3.2% and the US with 1.9%. The video capture function of 3G devices has prompted 47% of 3G users in the UK and 30.8% in Germany to capture videos. Fewer 2G users, or 17.1% in the UK and 9.2% in Germany, have been using the service. Also, 18.9% and 9.8% of UK and Germany 3G users have sent videos to peers, almost three times as many as their 2G counterpart.
