Mobile music market seen topping $32.2b.(METRICS : Inside the wireless data numbers)

Despite competition from digital music players and the challenge of delivering music services to the end-user, mobile music revenue is expected to reach $32.2 billion by 2010, more than double the 2007 revenue forecast of $13.7 billion. According to Gartner, mobile music-including basic ringtones, real tones, ringback tones, full track downloads and streaming--is currently the second most popular data service worldwide.

Asia Pacific (including Japan) is forecast to be the biggest spender on mobile music, based on its 41% share of global spending in 2005. The region will also lead the way when it comes to downloads of full track content to mobiles, with countries like Japan and South Korea now accounting for the majority of full track downloads to mobiles. ...
