Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAAION) typically presents as a painless, unilateral disturbance of vision. Patients are generally in the 55- to 65-year-old age group. (1) Men and women are affected equally, although there are racial disparities, with the disease being most prevalent in Caucasians.
