Understanding IT: a perspective.(information technology)

Almost everyone I know has war stories to tell about IT - you know, those technical people who seem to take such delight in keeping you from getting your work done. As a 10-year veteran of computer programming (now retired and forbidden to touch code) and a current employer to several software developers, I feel both qualified and justified in making the observation that IT folks are largely a prickly and sensitive lot. I have spent many hours, had many conversations, and written many notes on bar napkins about this subject, and I have formulated my own theories regarding the four factors that influence the psyche of an IT professional and make it so difficult for marketing people to communicate with them.
