E-mail Marketing on the Rise.

Target Marketing, August, 2000 by HAEGELE, KATIE

E-mail marketing budgets will rocket to an estimated $7.3 billion by 2005, according to a recent report by Jupiter Communications. The research company advises businesses to integrate their marketing efforts, increase subscribers and incorporate an interactive capability for customer feedback to head "unsubscribes" off at the pass.

In 1999, e-mail marketing costs were estimated at $164 million, with the average consumer receiving 40 commercial e-mails per year. If Jupiter's estimates are correct, by the year 2005 consumer in-boxes will be inundated with more than 1,600 messages.
