Target Marketing, January, 2001 by YORGEY, LISA A.

Women now account for 46 percent of all British Internet surfers, according to the latest six-month U.K. Internet User Monitor survey from Forrester Research, which concludes that the male gender bias characterizing the use of the Internet within the United Kingdom is eroding. However, while British Internet users are increasingly more likely to purchase online, the survey found that women are less likely to buy than their male counterparts.

Of U.K. adults, 39 percent of women have made a purchase online as compared to 61 percent of men. Forrester reports that more than half of all British adults have Internet access (51 percent); 15.4 million of them are regular Internet users.
