The authors of the ten chapters in Calumet and Fleur-de-lys use original archaeological research to aid in documenting one and a third centuries of interaction between Europeans and Native Americans in "Louisiane," the vast interior region claimed by France prior to the 1763 Treaty of Paris. This volume is the second to emerge from the 1988 Conference on French Colonial Archaeology in the Illinois Country; French Colonial Archaeology, edited by John Walthall, appeared in 1991.
