The states identified in Centennial West: Essays on the Northern Tier States--Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota--have had surprisingly little written about them relative to states that entered the Union at an earlier time. A collection of essays covering these individual states and the region in general would be appropriate, then, on the 100th anniversary of their statehood.
