Games of the North American Indians was first published in 1907 as the 24th Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology. The two-volume set is a detailed description of sports, games, and equipment collected over many years. Treating the games of 255 tribes, the work includes sketches of gaming implements, detailed rules and scoring techniques, credits to the collectors, acquisition dates, location of museums where the particular implements are housed, photographs, measurements, and various historical data and myths relative to the games.
