Non-Indians have difficulty understanding the Hopi myth. One very interesting literary question that non-Indians must resolve concerns the first death after the Hopis emerged from the third world below. Other concerns that must be addressed in analyzing the Hopi myth include the sacred texts, translation, audience, art of narrative and critical theory.
