When Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the doyen of New Democrats, met with reporters at the Democratic Leadership Council's convention in New York during the last week of July, he brought his very own autopsy of the late, not widely lamented Gore-Lieberman campaign. What tanked it, said Lieberman, wasn't Al Gore's stiffness, or the Clinton-hatred still festering in the land, or those five conniving Supreme Court justices.
