What do Afghan women want? (Correspondence).(Letter to the Editor)

AS V-DAY'S SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE to the Muslim world, I write to respond to Noy Thrupkaew's "What Do Afghan Women Want?" [Aug. 26] and to make some clarifications. The Vagina Monologues has never been performed in Afghanistan or Pakistan, which would have been apparent had TAP interviewed V-Day. We traveled to the region as facilitators to give shape to the accelerating change of Afghan women's rights. The trip's focus was to prepare for the emerging developments in the region upon which ending violence against women would depend.
