THE GOAL OF A POLITICAL action committee is to support those candidates the PAC deems to be in the best interest of the group, not simply to check off a name based on party affiliation ["Emily's List Hissed," Sept. 23]. That's why PACs are different from partisan party fundraising wings. The NRA has supported Democratic candidates who happen to be pro-gun.
