IN AN OTHERWISE USEFUL account, Harold Meyerson says in "Not Your Father's Detroit" [April] that, after World War II, "our technological innovation, often spurred by the investment of federal defense dollars, was second to none, and those innovations were turned into products at factories here in the United States." No, they were not.
