"First, congratulations and thanks for the coverage in your November Hearing Journal," was how the letter began. Clearly this was the kind of letter that warms the cockles--or is it mussels?--of an editor's heart. Adding to my pleasure was that it came from John Centa of Coeur d'Alene, ID, someone I have known and respected for nearly as long as I've been at HJ. A founding member of SHHH, John has spent 25 years helping people like him lead full lives despite their hearing loss.

After making a mental note to pass his congratulations on to those who really deserve it--Linda Thibodeau, who guest-edited our special issue on hearing assistance technology (HAT), and all those who contributed to it--I read on.
