INTRODUCTION

Commercial paint systems are complex assemblages comprising multiple layers of coatings. An essential requirement of such a paint system is that each layer performs its designated purpose, while at the same time remaining adhered to the adjacent paint layers. This latter requirement dictates that the paint system must be robust enough to contend with the range of coatings chemistries that may exist, as well as the range of processing conditions that would be necessary to apply and cure the coatings.
