Eastman closes Hong Kong plant. (Industry News).

Eastman Chemical Co., Kingsport, TN, has closed its cGMP custom manufacturing facility in Hong Kong, China. The closure of this plant is a continuation of Eastman's previously announced strategy to restructure the fine chemicals portion of its performance chemicals and intermediates business.

Eastman's Hong Kong facility was closed effective December 31, 2001. The number of employees at this site had decreased over the past several months as a result of the company's restructuring efforts, with some being redeployed to other Eastman sites. Forty-seven employees were affected by the Hong Kong plant closure.
